A reckless 24-year-old driver has been locked up for speeding at over 120mph before smashing into trees and seriously injuring his two passengers.
Jack Schofield Slams His Audi Into Woods at Crazy Speed
Jack Schofield, from Bedworth, Warwickshire, was sentenced to two years behind bars at Northampton Crown Court on April 9. He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Schofield was banned from the roads for three years and must pass an extended driving test before he’s allowed back behind the wheel.
Thrill Ride Gone Wrong at Illegal Street Race
The court heard the drama unfolded on April 19 last year at an unauthorised car cruising event in Northampton’s Moulton Park Industrial Estate. Schofield had met one of his passengers online and agreed to meet up for the first time at the event. Around 10.25pm, he took two young women for a joyride in his souped-up black Audi S3 along a makeshift circuit set between two roundabouts on Red House Road.
Catastrophic Crash Leaves Passengers Seriously Injured
On the final lap, Schofield smashed through the bends at a mind-blowing 122-123mph — more than triple the 40mph speed limit. He lost control, clipped the kerb, and the Audi launched into the air before crashing hard into the nearby trees. The car suffered catastrophic damage and caught fire. Miraculously, Schofield escaped with minor injuries. But both passengers were badly hurt and rushed to University Hospital Coventry.
