Stalker Michael Cherry Jailed for Breaking and Vandalising Homes

Michael Cherry’s twisted obsession ended behind bars after a shocking spree of stalking, break-ins, and vandalism. Between 11 and 26 June 2022, the 35-year-old relentlessly harassed a woman he knew, calling her constantly and crashing her home uninvited.

Damaged Cars, Odd Sabotage and Theft

Cherry’s disturbing behaviour escalated quickly. He punctured the tyres of the woman’s partner’s car not once, but twice. On 25 June, he broke into the partner’s house and stole car keys and a bank card. But the madness didn’t stop there — he poured washing-up liquid into the kettle and coffee machine, and smeared hair gel inside the oven.

Cherry then broke into the woman’s house, stealing multiple items and wrecking a bed, leaving the victims shaken and damaged belongings in his wake.

Police Nab Cherry With Cocaine and Stolen Goods

Officers arrested Cherry on 27 June, recovering cocaine and stolen property from both homes. A search of his phone uncovered a photo of the partner’s car and a tracking app showing the location of his house — evidence of his chilling obsession.

Prison and Restraining Order for Relentless Harasser

Cherry, formerly from Tonbridge but now of no fixed address, admitted stalking, two burglaries, and possession of cocaine at Maidstone Crown Court. On 23 September, he was slapped with a two-year jail sentence and will face a restraining order on release.

PC Max Jordan of West Division Vulnerability Investigation Team said: “Cherry relentlessly targeted two victims and his criminal actions caused them considerable distress. Breaking into their homes and causing damage while stealing personal items was particularly sinister and it is entirely appropriate that Cherry is now serving a prison sentence. I would like to commend the two victims for their courageous support in bringing this man to justice.”
