Vandal Caught After Brutal Brick Rampage Hits West Bridgford Shops

Forty-three-year-old Said Ferradji went on a destructive spree, smashing shop, restaurant, and salon fronts in West Bridgford’s busy Central Avenue, Tudor Square, and Priory Road. The summer and autumn of 2021 saw him hurl broken block paving bricks, leaving businesses nursing thousands of pounds in damage.

Arrest After Police Spot Suspect Scoping Out Next Target

On 5 November 2021, officers spotted Ferradji checking out another business in Tudor Square. They swiftly moved in, arresting him on the spot. During the arrest, Ferradji was found with a stolen bank card on him.

Evidence Found at Home Seals His Fate

A police search at Ferradji’s Albert Road home uncovered more paving bricks linked to the vandalism spree. He was charged with six counts of criminal damage, theft from a dwelling, and failing to surrender to custody.

Four Months Behind Bars for Relentless Vandal

At Nottingham Magistrates’ Court, Ferradji was sentenced to four months in jail. Sergeant Sarah Merrall of Nottinghamshire Police praised the arrest:

“Ferradji caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to a number of independent venues in West Bridgford and I hope the business owners are pleased he has now been jailed.

“This senseless vandalism left a number of shops and other businesses out of pocket and caused them a significant amount of inconvenience.

“West Bridgford is home to a number of independent businesses and we work closely with them and our partners to ensure it remains a vibrant place to shop and visit.

“We will not tolerate attacks on hard-working businesses who are the lifeblood of our communities. Tackling antisocial behaviour remains one of our beat priorities and neighbourhood teams work around the clock to bring persistent offenders like Ferradji to justice.”

West Bridgford’s local businesses can now breathe a sigh of relief as the vandal’s reign of terror comes to an end.
