Husband Gets Life for Christmas Day Murder of Wife in Maidstone
A husband from Maidstone has been handed a life sentence after stabbing his wife to death on Christmas Day.
Brutal Christmas Attack
Mohammad Tawos Qoraishi, 27, pleaded guilty to the murder of his 19-year-old wife, Parwin Quriashi, who suffered a horrific 38 stab wounds in a sustained assault.
The attack happened around 2.35pm on 25 December 2018 at their flat in Kentish Court, Maidstone. Parwin was found lying in the kitchen with multiple knife injuries. Despite first aid by police and later paramedics, she was pronounced dead at 3.28pm.
Quick Police Response and Arrest
Officers seized a kitchen knife at the scene. Later the same day, police spotted Qoraishi travelling on the A2 towards Dover, stopping his car at 4.38pm and arresting him.
He was charged with murder two days later, on 27 December, following Crown Prosecution Service approval.
Life Behind Bars
Qoraishi appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on 7 June 2019 and admitted the attack. He is set to serve a minimum of 16 years and 82 days before being eligible for parole.
Senior Investigating Officer DCI Ivan Beasley said: “This was an unprovoked and savage attack on a defenceless young woman. Her tragic death at the hands of her husband has left a family mourning her loss.”
“Qoraishi fled but was tracked down near Dover. It is only right he now spends a considerable time in prison for this brutal crime.”
