A 55-year-old Sheffield man has been locked up for 15 years after leaving two men seriously injured in a high-speed road crash and brutally attacking another outside a local pub.
BMW Chase Ends in Crash, Two Men Hospitalised
Michael Tyrrell, of Moss House Court, Mosborough, caused chaos on 3 October 2024 when he drove his BMW X5 on the wrong side of the road. He aggressively tried to block in a Volkswagen Polo, then chased it at high speed before smashing into it. The Polo was then forced into a bus, seriously injuring its driver, a 37-year-old man, and a passenger, 49. Tyrrell fled the scene but was soon linked to the BMW as its owner. Forensic evidence and CCTV footage proved he was behind the wheel. He was arrested on 12 November and charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Pub Brawl Leaves Victim with Fractured Skull
Just months later, on 19 April 2025, Tyrrell struck again. Outside the Sherwood pub in Birley, he viciously assaulted a 38-year-old man, knocking him unconscious with serious injuries, including a fractured skull. CCTV footage and witness statements sealed Tyrrell’s fate.
Guilty on All Counts – Tyrrell Finally Sentenced
Tyrrell initially pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of assault at Sheffield Crown Court on 31 October 2025. On 12 January 2026, he changed his plea to guilty for the dangerous driving offences. On 10 April 2026, Tyrrell was jailed for 15 years, bringing justice for the three seriously injured men.
