Following a horrific car crash near Portsdown Hill, two men died and a child was rushed to hospital

Two men from Gosport and Fareham were killed in a car crash near Portsdown Hill, and a 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital following the fatal collision on Monday evening.

At around 7.10 p.m. yesterday evening, emergency services were dispatched to the wreckage on James Callaghan Drive.

A black Peugeot and a grey Renault Megane were involved in the collision.

Both drivers died at the scene, a 48-year-old man from Gosport and a 44-year-old man from Fareham.

A 13-year-old boy with serious injuries was also rushed to Southampton General Hospital.

Following the crash, officers are looking for witnesses.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 48-year-old man from Gosport, who was driving the Renault, and a 44-year-old man from Fareham, who was driving the Peugeot, died at the scene,’ said Hampshire Constabulary.

‘A 13-year-old boy in the Renault was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries.

‘Their next of kin have been notified, and specialist officers are assisting them.’

‘We are currently conducting our investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this incident,’ said Sergeant Spencer Wragg.

‘We would like to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.’

‘Please contact us as soon as possible if you have any information.’

South Central Ambulance Service (Scas) paramedics and Cosham Fire Station crews assisted officers.

We attended a road traffic accident on James Callaghan Drive at 7.10pm last night,’ said a Hampshire fire and rescue spokeswoman.
