Shocking CCTV Footage Reveals Dangers at Worcestershire Level Crossings

Network Rail has blasted a series of dangerous stunts caught on CCTV at footpath level crossings in Worcestershire. The footage shows reckless behaviour that could have ended in tragedy.

Risky Stunts and Reckless Acts Put Lives in Danger

The covertly filmed video exposes a worrying trend of idiots tempting fate. Scenes include dog walkers placing pets on live tracks for snaps, teens performing one-armed push-ups mid-crossing, and parents letting toddlers play on railway lines.

  • April 4: Teen cranks out push-ups blasting music on the crossing.
  • March 14: Dog walkers dash across just eight seconds before a train roars past.
  • April 1: Dogs posed on tracks for photos as others watch.
  • May 18: Kid on scooter crosses seconds before an approaching train.
  • April 3: Man and two young girls play on rails for over a minute.
  • March 18: Boys place stones on the track, risking deadly collisions.

Close to 50 incidents have been reported or caught on camera this year alone in Worcestershire and the West Midlands.

Network Rail Sounds Alarm on Deadly Risks

Alexandra France, Network Rail’s Level Crossing Safety Manager, warned: “A few seconds’ difference and these careless acts could have been fatal. No matter how well you know a crossing, ignoring rules is a deadly gamble.”

She stressed that the risks are real and urged everyone to follow safety rules strict and steady.

Safety Teams Out to Tackle Dangerous Behaviour

Network Rail’s safety squads are hitting the problem spots, educating pedestrians face-to-face. They’re handing out leaflets and hammering home these crucial tips:

  • Stay sharp — ditch distractions like phones and music.
  • Stop, look, and listen before stepping onto tracks.
  • Check both ways for trains coming.
  • Obey all signals, lights, barriers, and alarms.
  • Move swiftly — keep children close and dogs on leads.
