Firefighters Battle Bin Lorry Blaze in Brighton

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) was mobilised to respond to a bin lorry fire on Natal Road, just off Lewes Road in Brighton. The incident required the lorry to empty its five tons of waste onto the road. Once the fire is fully extinguished, a Brighton and Hove Council clean-up operation will commence, resulting in road closures for some time.

An ESFRS spokesperson stated, “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called at 11.27am on 17 June 2024 to Natal Road, Brighton, to reports of a bin lorry alight. Two fire engines are at the scene. Crews are using two hose reels to put out a fire affecting around five tonnes of waste. Please avoid the area.”

The public is advised to steer clear of the location to allow emergency services and clean-up crews to carry out their work safely and efficiently.
