At around 11.40 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, police received a report of a burglary on Burbo Bank Road in Blundell Sands.
According to reports, a group of men wearing face masks forced their way into the resident’s home.
Before fleeing on foot, the suspects stole a large amount of jewellery and sprayed the victim with an unknown substance.
Officers received a report of a second burglary at Hillcrest Lodge on Cuckoo Lane around 12.50pm.
According to reports, a man knocked on the door of a house on the lane and forced his way inside, followed by three other men. A woman was assaulted on the property, and a large amount of jewellery was stolen before they fled.
Officers arrived and discovered a blue Audi S4 in the area, which had been abandoned following a brief police pursuit in Hale Village.
Following a thorough search of the area, officers arrested four men from Liverpool and Cardiff, aged 25, 34, 27, and 24.
They were taken to a police station in Merseyside and are still being held.
Detectives are now looking for any additional information about both burglaries and a fifth suspect in the area.
“This was clearly a terrifying incident for the occupants of both homes,” said Detective Inspector Phil Ryan. Fortunately, they were not seriously injured, but their ordeals clearly left them distressed. Although four suspects have been apprehended, we are still looking for a fifth. We are asking anyone in Blundell Sands or Gateacre who saw this group of men yesterday afternoon or saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us.
