The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice, set to affect parts of the UK early next week. The warnings highlight the potential for hazardous conditions as winter weather sweeps across the country.
Affected Areas
- Monday, 10 a.m. to Tuesday, 10 a.m.
Much of southern Scotland, north-east England, parts of Yorkshire, and north-west England, including Lancashire and Cumbria. - Sunday, 4 p.m. to Monday, 11 a.m.
Northern Scotland, where an earlier warning for snow and ice is in place.
Snowfall Expectations
The Met Office has warned of:
- Up to 20cm of snow on higher ground.
- Up to 10cm of snow at lower levels, which could cause significant disruptions.
Potential Impact
The snow and ice could result in dangerous travel conditions, with icy roads and reduced visibility likely. Public transport services, including buses and trains, may also be delayed or cancelled. Power outages are a possibility in the most severely affected areas.
