Hero Neighbour Dashes In to Save Best Mate from Fiery House Explosion
A terrifying blast ripped through a quiet street in Wooburn Green this evening, leaving two injured and 30 residents forced out of their homes. But it was a quick-thinking neighbour who became the real hero, rescuing a man trapped in the smouldering wreckage.
Massive Blast Rocks Wooburn Green
The explosion struck just after 5.30pm on Old Watery Lane, shaking nearby buildings and causing widespread panic. Dozens of firefighters rushed to tackle the blazing semi-detached house, which has been all but destroyed.
A safety cordon remains in place, with around five houses on the road evacuated as a precaution. The road itself is closed off while the emergency teams battle the aftermath.
Rescue Efforts and Injuries
Bucks Fire and Rescue confirmed they pulled an injured man to safety. A woman escaped the blast before the fire crews arrived. One victim is reported to have serious injuries from the explosion.
Neighbours Describe Explosion Chaos
“I just heard a loud explosion. At first, I didn’t realise, then my daughter messaged me asking if I was still alive,” said a shaken resident from Barley Fields.
“It looks like the building’s been completely wiped out. All that’s left is dust and water – a big empty space.”
Tania Hancocks added: “This was so scary. The power was like a bomb going off. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected.”
Another neighbour, Abbie Barszcz, said: “Poor people… I hope no one else was inside and that whoever’s house this was is okay and has somewhere to go. Losing a home like that must be devastating.”
