Northumbria Police are investigating a violent attack on a woman in North Shields earlier this week, which resulted in the theft of her motorbike. The victim, Louise Baldwin, shared details of the assault on social media, revealing she was attacked by multiple individuals near the Esso petrol station close to Royal Quays.
According to Baldwin, one of the attackers was described as a tall man dressed entirely in black, and another, identified as “Charlie,” wore a light blue tracksuit. The attackers reportedly punched Baldwin “all over” and sprayed her with ammonia. As a result of the assault, she suffered a head injury and a broken hand. The gang then made off with her motorbike.
This incident has sparked concern as it comes amid a rise in motorcycle thefts across the region. Authorities have noted an increase in these types of crimes in both North and South Tyneside in recent weeks, prompting calls for increased vigilance in the community.
