Massive Hunt Launched for Missing British Teen in Tenerife

Police in Tenerife have issued an urgent call for volunteers to join a large-scale search for missing British teen Jay Slater. The hunt will focus on the rugged village of Masca this Saturday, June 29.

Authorities Rally Volunteers for Tough Terrain Search

The Guardia Civil is coordinating the operation, appealing for support from Civil Protection units, firefighters, and expert private volunteers to comb the challenging landscape.

“The Guardia Civil prepares and coordinates a large search to find the young British man missing in the village of Masca. The collaboration of all Volunteer Associations is requested,” police said. “The massive search will be carried out on Saturday, June 29th from 09:00.”

19-Year-Old Disappeared After Missed Bus at Music Festival

Jay Slater, 19, an apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, vanished last Monday after missing a bus home following the NRG music festival. He was last heard from in a call to a friend announcing he was setting off on foot.

The trek from Rural de Teno Park in northern Tenerife to his accommodation would take around 11 hours on foot. Difficult terrain has hampered search efforts, but specialist search dogs have been deployed.

The local police and Jay’s loved ones are desperate for news. Volunteers with skills in navigating tough terrains are urged to help bolster the search effort in Masca from 9am Saturday.
