Hampshire police specials gave the all-clear on SCAS999 and the M27 after a scary crash involving Olympian Iwan Thomas MBE. They said, “It was a pleasure to meet you Iwanrunner and your dog (in the car window). Wishing you the best.”
Iwan Opens Up: “I’m Shaken, Car Written Off”
The athletics legend broke his silence on the crash, admitting the news isn’t great. He told fans, “Sorry I’ve been quiet for a few days, people asking me what the matter is, I can’t sugar coat it, not great news.”
Iwan revealed he was hit while stationary by a car going around 50mph. “It hurts,” he said. Thankfully, his dog Teddy was not in the car at the time.
“Unfortunately, the car is gone, that’s written off. I was shaken up, I’m still shaken up,” he added.
Thanking Emergency Crews Amid a Tough Year
Despite his injuries, Iwan expressed gratitude to the emergency services on the scene. “Obviously, police, paramedics, emergency services who attended, thank you very much.”
Reflecting on 2020, he sighed, “What a year 2020’s been, absolutely hate it.”
