Sex Offender Caught Thanks to Greggs Jumper Mugshot
Shaun Aver, a registered sex offender who had absconded after being recalled to prison, has finally been nabbed. The cheeky reason? He was snapped wearing a Greggs jumper in his mugshot, making it easier for the public – and police – to spot him.
Greggs Jumper Mugshot Sparks Manhunt
Last month, after Aver went on the run, police shared his photo wearing the iconic bakery chain’s top, hoping the public would help track him down. The tactic worked like a charm.
“You may recall us appealing for information to locate Shaun Aver as he was wanted on a recall to prison,” Preston Police said. “Excellent news – he was apprehended in Merseyside.”
From Bury to Merseyside: The Nationwide Hunt
Aver, 36, is known to have ties across Lancashire, including Bamber Bridge, Chorley, Preston, and Blackpool. Preston police even had a bit of fun, posting snaps of officers searching for Aver outside Greggs stores.
Police celebrated their success with more photos, promising more creative wanted appeals from the Chorley and South Ribble Task Force.
