Kent Cops Crack Down on Reckless Drivers at Crossways Boulevard
Kent Police are on high alert after a string of reckless driving incidents near Crossways Boulevard since mid-February. The troublemakers, mostly motorists and motorcyclists, have been causing chaos, sparking fines and warnings for breaking Covid-19 rules.
Dispersal Orders Fail to Keep Nuisance at Bay
Officers first enforced a dispersal order in early March, which temporarily cooled things down. But over Easter weekend, the nightmare returned. Police took 10 reports of rowdy drivers and riders revving around car parks before swiftly dispersing the crowds on arrival.
To nip it in the bud, another dispersal order was slapped on from 8pm, Friday 9 April to 8pm, Sunday 11 April 2021.
Sergeant Diddams Vows Tough Action on Troublemakers
“We don’t underestimate the huge impact this has on residents and other road users,” said Sergeant Paul Diddams from the Dartford Community Safety Unit. “Our patrols have stepped up and we’re taking firm action against dangerous drivers.”
“This dispersal order shows we mean business. We won’t hesitate to seize vehicles or make arrests if needed.
“We’re working with landowners to block access to hotspots during problem times. Residents can rest assured we won’t ignore anti-social behaviour. If you see something, say something — report it online or call 101.”
Residents Urged to Stay Vigilant
The police want locals to help stamp out these dangerous gatherings. If you spot reckless driving or nuisance behaviour, don’t keep quiet. Contact Kent Police and help keep Crossways Boulevard safe.
