Teens Spark Blaze on Isle of Wight Beach: Fire Crews Rush to Shore

Firefighters from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service raced to Shanklin Esplanade last night after undergrowth went up in flames, sparked by teenagers with gas canisters. The blaze broke out just after 5.30pm on Saturday, sending crews into action.

Flames Rage Along Shanklin Cliffs

Retained firefighters from Sandown and Ventnor were quickly mobilised to tackle the fire burning through undergrowth near the cliffs on Shanklin beach. Using a portable pump, crews drew seawater to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further.

Public Raise Alarm Over Youth Arson

Concerned members of the public called the fire service after spotting youths lighting fires with gas canisters. The prompt response helped contain the blaze before it could escalate.

Investigation Underway

The fire service has launched an investigation and is working closely with Hampshire Constabulary to track down those responsible. Authorities warn that deliberate fires put lives and property at risk.
