Eight Years Behind Bars for Shocking Attack
A vicious thug who forced his way into a man’s home in Driffield, threw ammonia in his face, slashed him with a knife, and broke his leg by stamping on it has been locked up for over eight years.
Jordan Shields, 36, from Bridlington, was sentenced to eight years and two months at Hull Crown Court on Monday, 16 March 2026. The terrifying attack took place back in December 2024.
Attack Details and Investigation
Shields, along with two accomplices, burst into a flat on Middle Street South around 6pm and launched the brutal assault. The victim suffered serious injuries to his face, arms, and leg, which needed surgery.
Police launched a hunt immediately, scouring CCTV footage, doing door-to-door inquiries, and collecting forensic evidence. DNA found at the scene linked Shields directly to the crime.
Officers later caught Shields after two police officers recognised his voice on CCTV. During a search of his home, an empty ammonia bottle matching the attack substance was found hidden in a wardrobe.
Shields’ Guilty Plea and Previous Record
Initially denying all involvement, Shields finally pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary on the second day of trial in August 2025. He also breached an 18-month suspended sentence for drug offences.
Detective Inspector Tracy St Paul said:
“Shields showed callous disregard for the victim’s suffering, trying to dodge justice until the overwhelming evidence forced his hand. Thanks to our officers’ hard work and public help, we caught him.”
