A fierce blaze ripped through a basement flat in Brighton on Sunday afternoon, forcing emergency crews into action.

Six Fire Engines Blitz Blaze at Chesham Place

Just after 4pm, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service scrambled six fire engines and an Aerial Ladder Platform to Chesham Place. The fire had already engulfed the basement flat in a four-storey building.

Massive Firefighting Effort: 12 Breathing Apparatus in Use

Firefighters battled the intense blaze using 12 breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a main jet, and foam to bring the flames under control.

One Person Rescued and Rushed to Hospital

Emergency crews pulled one person from the burning flat. The individual was swiftly taken to hospital by South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb).

Aftermath: Utilities Shut Off and Roads Closed

  • Gas and electric supplies were cut off at the scene to prevent further danger.
  • Crews are currently dampening down the site to stop the fire from reigniting.
