High-speed police chase ends in crash on Carterhatch Lane after fake plates spotted
Suspected stolen car crashes after wild chase through Enfield
A dramatic police pursuit through Enfield came to a fiery end last night when a blue car slammed into a wooden pole on Carterhatch Lane. The vehicle, believed to be stolen and sporting false number plates, lost control and toppled a bicycle before screeching to a halt.
Witnesses spot fake plates amid frantic chase
Police chased the speeding vehicle from Brimsdown towards Carterhatch Lane. Onlookers noticed the car was flying dangerously fast. A quick check revealed the registration plates belonged to a black car – not the blue one in the chase – confirming suspicions the plates were fake.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported, but the knocked-over bike highlighted how close nearby cyclists and pedestrians came to disaster.
Investigation underway as residents voice safety fears
The Metropolitan Police have not yet confirmed any arrests but are probing the vehicle’s origins and whether it was stolen. Locals growing worried about fast police chases in the borough voiced their concerns.
“It was terrifying — we saw them flying past, and then bang, straight into the pole. It’s lucky nobody was seriously hurt.”
