Hero Couple Rushed Woman to Worthing Hospital
At around 10.45pm on Saturday 10 April, a kind-hearted young couple spotted a disoriented woman in her seventies wandering the streets of Worthing. They quickly sprang into action, driving her to the A&E Department at Worthing Hospital to get her the urgent help she needed.
After ensuring she was in safe hands, the couple left without leaving their details. The woman received treatment, but the next morning police were alerted that a woman matching her description had gone missing from a local care home earlier that evening.
Police Seek Couple to Thank & Question in Investigation
Detective Constable Kat Wilkins of West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations said:
“We would very much like to speak to this couple, not just to thank them for looking after the woman, but because they are valuable witnesses in an ongoing criminal investigation. If you recognise them, please get in touch online or call 101, quoting serial 289 of 11/04. We want to stress they are not under suspicion.”
Two Arrested Over Woman’s Neglect
- Two women, aged 58 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of ill-treatment by neglect related to the woman between 10-11 April.
- The 20-year-old also faced charges of fraud by false representation.
- Both have since been interviewed and released on police bail pending further inquiries until 11 July.
