A 27-year-old man has been arrested following a horrific rape in a town centre car park in Worthing.
The alleged attack happened around 8pm on Wednesday, March 11, in the Lyndhurst Road car park close to a local hospital.
Suspect in Custody, Investigation Ongoing
Police swooped on the suspect two days later, on Friday night (March 13), and he remains in custody as enquiries continue.
Specialist officers are providing support to the victim, a woman in her 20s.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
A Sussex Police spokesperson said:
“A 27-year-old man has been arrested, following a report of a woman being raped in Lyndhurst Road car park, Worthing, around 8pm on Wednesday 11 March. He remains in custody at this time. The woman, in her 20s, continues to be supported by specialist officers. We wish to thank the public for their support and information, which has been of assistance to the investigation, and continue to ask anyone with any information that may be of relevance to contact us online or via 101 quoting Operation Blyth.”
Anyone with information is urged to come forward to help police with their ongoing investigation.
