Sheffield Police Issue Warning Ahead of Saturday Car Meet
Drivers heading to a car meet in Sheffield this Saturday, June 25, have been put on blast. South Yorkshire Police have made it clear: risky behaviour and dangerous driving will not be tolerated.
Police: Love Cars, Hate Reckless Driving
Sergeant Brandon Brown, who speaks for the traffic unit, said, “We’re passionate about cars and happy for people to meet and show off their rides. But it has to be safe.”
He added that police work closely with recognised car meet groups across South Yorkshire to keep events enjoyable and, crucially, safe for local communities.
Illegal Meets Could Lead to Vehicle Seizure
Unlicensed car meets are illegal and dangerous. Police warned of tough action against reckless drivers and anti-social behaviour. That includes dispersal orders under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime, and Policing Act 2014.
- Licences, insurance, and car mods will be checked
- Reckless drivers face formal warnings or vehicle seizure under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act
- Unlicensed gatherings will be broken up by officers
