Serious Crash Shuts A12 Both Ways Near Colchester
A major collision between a car and a motorcycle has forced the closure of the A12 in both directions between junction 29 near Colchester and junction 30 at Stratford St Mary, Essex.

Follow These Diversion Routes
Southbound Diversion
- Exit the A12 at junction 31 Four Sisters.
- Take the B1070 through East Bergholt to the B1070/A137 roundabout.
- At the roundabout, take the third exit onto A137 through Manningtree, Lawford, and Ardleigh.
- At the twin roundabouts with the A133, take the second exit onto the A133.
- Follow the A133 to the twin roundabouts with the A1232.
- Continue on A1232 and rejoin the A12 southbound at junction 29 Crown.
Northbound Diversion
- Exit the A12 at junction 29 Crown and follow A1232 to the twin roundabouts.
- Take the first exit onto A133, then continue to the twin roundabouts with the A137.
- At the roundabout, take the first exit onto A137 through Ardleigh, Lawford, Manningtree, Cattawade, and Brantham to junction 56 Wherstead on the A14.
- Take the first exit onto the A14 towards London and continue to the A12S interchange at Copdock Mill.
