Three Men Plucked from Sea After Dinghy Capsizes Off Studland Bay
Three blokes found themselves fighting for survival off Studland Bay this evening after being tossed into the sea from their dinghy. A quick-thinking member of the public spotted the trio struggling in the water and dialled 999 at 4.30 pm to raise the alarm.
Rescue Teams Rush to the Scene
Swanage Coastguard Rescue Team and the Swanage All Weather RNLI Lifeboat sped to the emergency, while the Swanage National Coastwatch Institute kept a sharp eye on the drifting sailors. By the time the lifeboat reached them, the men had scrambled aboard a nearby yacht at anchor.
Cold, Wet, But Lucky to Be Unharmed
The rescued men were shivering and soaked but thankfully walked away uninjured. The lifeboat crew safely brought them ashore, where paramedics were ready to provide immediate care.
Coastguard Issue Stark Warning
Aimee Neale from HM Coastguard said: “The conditions for a small dinghy this afternoon were particularly challenging with a south-westerly force 7-8 wind and moderate to rough sea. We strongly recommend that people heed warnings and do not venture out to sea in small boats in such conditions.”
