Tributes paid to ‘warm-hearted and selfless’ woman who died suddenly aged 30

Family and friends have been left devastated following the sudden death of a 30-year-old woman after she became unwell at home.
Megan Elizabeth Haslam was taken to hospital on Sunday, 13 September, but was later pronounced dead.
Friends have described Megan’s death as “unexpected and completely out of the blue”.
Some of those close to her have suggested she may have suffered a heart attack or internal bleeding. However, her cause of death has not been established, and a post-mortem examination is expected to provide further information.
‘Her future was only looking bright’
Megan’s friend Joshua, who had known her for around 18 years, said she had recently reached one of the most settled periods of her adult life.
She worked full-time in housing while also taking shifts at pubs around Bolton.
Joshua said: “When she passed away, she was at the best point she had been at during her adult life.
“She had consistency with work, she was driving and she was stable.
“Everything was perfect in that sense.
“In the context of her whole life, it was the worst possible time for this to happen because her future was only looking bright.”
He described Megan as resilient and hard-working, as well as a warm-hearted person who treated people equally regardless of their background.
Thousands raised towards funeral
Megan’s brother, Jack Haslam, and Rebecca Barraclough have launched a fundraiser to help meet the cost of her funeral and wake.
At the time of the report, around £4,200 had been raised towards a £6,000 target, with 126 donations.
The fundraiser described Megan as someone who “brought so much light, warmth and laughter into the lives of everyone who knew her”.
Any money remaining after funeral costs is expected to be donated to causes close to Megan’s heart, including an animal shelter and local organisations supporting homeless people and those experiencing mental health and addiction difficulties.
Joshua added: “You can see how much love there is. She would be so surprised.
“It’s easy to take things for granted. I think that’s the message: don’t take life or the people around you for granted.”
