A man has been jailed after police discovered a large-scale cannabis factory spread across three floors of a property in Bideford.
Officers from the Bideford Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant at an address in the Old Town area of Bideford on May 21, where they discovered cannabis with an estimated value of £300,000.
Plants at various stages of maturity were being grown across three floors of the property.
Police estimated the operation could have produced cannabis with a yearly street value of around £1 million.
Saba Tangu, 44, an Albanian national of no fixed abode, was arrested in Bideford following the discovery and subsequently remanded in custody.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department worked with the Crown Prosecution Service to secure charges against him.
Tangu appeared at Exeter Crown Court on September 16, where he was sentenced to two years in prison for production of a Class B drug and knowingly entering the UK in breach of a deportation order.
Police said that following completion of his custodial sentence, Tangu will be deported to Greece.
