A roof fire at a block of flats in Southeast London prompted a swift response from the London Fire Brigade, including the deployment of a specialist turntable ladder, after concerned residents raised the alarm.
The fire broke out at Faraday House on London Terrace shortly after 10:00pm, when two members of the public alerted fire crews after hearing a smoke alarm and noticing signs of a fire on the building’s roof.
Specialist Firefighting Equipment Used
Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the roof of the three-storey residential block. A 32-metre turntable ladder was brought in to provide overhead access for crews tackling the blaze.
Crews used hose reels to suppress the flames, while the elevated platform allowed firefighters to carry out aerial inspections and safely extinguish hotspots on the rooftop.
