President Mohammed bin Zayed and Dubai’s Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed turned heads at Dubai Mall last night. Their coffee-and-pastries stop at Cipriani Dolci came as the city reels from fresh Iranian missile attacks.
Up Close and Personal with the People
The two VIPs, spotted alongside senior officials, mingled with locals and tourists in the bustling mall next to the Burj Khalifa. Video clips show the President warmly greeting a young girl, even kissing her hand, and chatting with a visitor from Ghana who praised the UAE for being a “very safe country.” The President wished him a pleasant stay.

Missile Strikes Shake Dubai’s Skyline
Just hours before this reassuring show of leadership, Iran launched fresh strikes on Dubai and other Gulf cities. The attacks follow the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli raid on Saturday. Targeted sites include Dubai International Airport, Burj Al Arab, Jebel Ali Port, and the Fairmont hotel, which caught fire and injured four people.
The iconic Burj Khalifa was evacuated amid fears it could be next. Over 100,000 Brits in Dubai have registered with the Foreign Office as evacuation plans loom. The city is home to some 240,000 Britons in total.
Social Media War: Alarm vs. Calm
The strikes sparked a fierce divide online. Influencer Lauren Jarvis described waking to “loud explosions that literally shake the house” and “missiles flying overhead.” Meanwhile, celebs like Geordie Shore‘s Vicky Pattison and former Apprentice star Luisa Zissman dubbed Dubai “one of the safest places in the world.”
Their optimism faced ridicule as users pointed out the irony of Dubai’s famed safety now under missile fire.
