Emergency crews rushed to Babbs Mill Lake in Solihull after five children fell through the ice into the freezing water.

Massive Rescue Operation Underway

Police, paramedics, and firefighters flooded the scene near Babbs Mill Park, with multiple ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars lining Fordbridge Road and Stonebridge Crescent estate.

The distress call came shortly before 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 11.

Specialist Water Rescue Teams In Action

West Midlands Fire Service led the frantic search and rescue effort. Their water rescue specialists plunged into the icy lake, using expert equipment to pull victims to safety.

“Reports and videos from the scene show people playing on the ice before falling through,” said a fire service spokesman. “We acted quickly to control the situation and provide urgent medical care on-site.”

Multiple Victims Critical, Hospitals Alerted
