Serious Crash Shuts A3(M) Both Ways in Hampshire
The A3(M) in Hampshire is completely closed between junction 2 (Dell Piece Interchange) and junction 3 (Waterlooville Interchange) following a serious collision.
The crash involved a car and a motorbike. Hampshire Police are leading the emergency response, with South Central Ambulance Service and National Highways Traffic Officers also on scene.
Road Closure to Last Overnight – Drivers Urged to Stay Put
Due to the severity of the crash, the closure is expected to remain in place throughout the night. If you are caught within the closure, please stay with your vehicle.
Authorities are currently shutting the road off completely. Once done, they will begin turning traffic around from the back of the queue to clear the area. Drivers are asked to be patient while this happens.
Detour Routes to Avoid the A3(M) Blockage
Southbound Diversion:
- Exit at junction 2
- At roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto B2149 (Dell Piece West)
- Continue to A3 portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth Road junction
- Turn left onto A3 towards Waterlooville
- At the B2150 Hulbert Road roundabout, take 1st exit
- Follow B2150 to junction 3 of A3(M)
- Take 3rd exit at the roundabout to rejoin A3(M) southbound
Northbound Diversion:
- Exit at junction 3
- At roundabout, take 1st exit onto B2150 Hulbert Road
- At the A3 roundabout, take 2nd exit onto A3
- Follow A3 to junction with B2149 (Dell Piece West)
- Turn right onto B2149 then proceed to A3(M) junction 2
- Take 1st exit at roundabout to rejoin A3(M) northbound
