The Inbetweeners fans, brace yourselves! Joe Thomas, the lovable Simon from the hit British comedy, has dropped a major hint that a new film could be on the horizon. The original cast have been chatting about reuniting, and Joe revealed everyone’s keen to get back into character for a possible third instalment.

The Inbetweeners: A Cult Classic

The first Inbetweeners film smashed it at the box office back in 2011, following the success of the original E4 TV series that started in 2008. The sequel dropped in 2014, sending Simon, Will, and Neil on a madcap adventure to Jay’s stomping ground – Australia. Since then, the crew have all moved on to new projects, but the mateship is still strong and the idea of a comeback has never been off the table.

Joe Thomas Teases Vegas Stag Do Plot

Joe opened up on the Always Be Comedy podcast about talks regarding a new film. “Yes, it’s happened in various forms,” he said. “All of us feel it would be nice to do. We’re all still around, we’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other. And if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it.”

He also hinted at a cracking storyline involving a stag do in Las Vegas that promises plenty of laughs. But Joe warned of the pressure to match the lightning-in-a-bottle magic of the original show and movies: “Everybody’s anxiety would be, ‘Will it be as good?’ That is what we would be going in with.”

Not Everyone’s Sold On the Idea

However, not all the gang are on board. James Buckley, who played foul-mouthed Jay, has expressed a reluctance to return, calling the idea of bringing the characters back “sad and creepy.” Simon Bird, aka Will, has also sounded cautious, saying, “If we could have all stayed 19 forever, and if it would still be funny, we would have done it forever. It was the best job in the world,” but admits time might have dimmed the magic.

Will There Be an Inbetweeners 3?

The prospect of a new Inbetweeners movie is still up in the air, with the cast clearly weighing up the pressure against the love for the show. Fans will just have to wait and see if this legendary British comedy is set for one more wild ride. For now, the door is wide open, and Joe’s hints mean we might just get a nostalgic, hilarious reunion after all.
