Woman Sexually Assaulted in E8 After Late-Night Walk

A woman in her 20s faced a terrifying attack while walking alone near Kingsland Road, E8, just before 1am on Monday, 15 July.

Suspect Follows Victim, Then Grabs Her in Driveway

The victim noticed a man dogging her steps. She stepped aside to let him pass but he caught up at Downham Road. The man reached out, trying to touch her face. She bolted across both lanes of Kingsland Road – but he chased her, grabbed her arm, and sexually assaulted her. He then yanked her into a driveway. When she screamed, he covered her mouth to silence her.

Heroic Delivery Driver’s Timely Rescue

Help came when a nearby delivery driver on a bicycle heard her screams. Peering into the driveway, he gave the woman the chance to break free. Meanwhile, the attacker calmly walked away from the scene.

Police Appeal for Witnesses and Key Delivery Driver

Detective Sergeant Rajkumar Anton Arulnayagam said: “This was an absolutely terrifying ordeal for the victim and we are determined to identify this predatory man – a clear danger to women – as a matter of urgency.”

“Women must feel safe walking alone. We’re committed to protecting them and stamping out violence caused by predatory men.”

“The area was well-lit and busy, with many people heading home after the Euros final. We want to hear from anyone who saw the suspect or caught dash-cam footage. To the delivery driver who came to the victim’s aid, please come forward – you’re a key witness and your info could be vital in bringing this man to justice.”
