Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry blasted the strike as “barbaric,” pointing out the attack targeted a tower close to the Babyn Yar memorial — a site remembering the horrific Nazi Holocaust massacre of Jews. Babyn Yar holds several memorials, including one dedicated to the victims of this atrocity.
“Russian troops fired on the TV tower, near the Memorial complex #BabynYar,” Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry tweeted. “Russian criminals do not stop at anything in their barbarism. Russia = barbarian.”
Putin’s Forces Close in on Kyiv
The Kremlin’s offensive intensified over the last 24 hours as Russian troops push closer to Ukraine’s capital. The UK Ministry of Defence reports a convoy of Russian combat and logistics vehicles is now just 30km from central Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Russia has ramped up air and artillery strikes on densely populated urban areas over the past two days. Despite the pressure, Ukrainian forces still hold key cities Kharkiv, Kherson, and Mariupol, though all are believed to be encircled by Russian troops.
