Detectives have released images of 14 individuals who may have vital information regarding the recent incidents of disorder in Merseyside.
Detective Superintendent Paul Speight has urged these individuals to come forward: “It is vital that these people make themselves known as soon as possible, as we think they can assist our ongoing investigations.”
The call comes after a week of violence and damage that has left the Southport community and surrounding areas reeling. The police are diligently processing the influx of information, images, and footage related to the unrest.
“We are still working our way through information, images, and footage as it comes in and we’ll continue to take action to arrest, charge and put before the courts anyone identified,” said Detective Superintendent Speight. “We have so far seen 42 people arrested, 15 charged and three jailed. There will be more in the coming days, and many people who are sitting comfortably will soon be getting a knock on their door.”
The disorder, which erupted last week and continued over the weekend, has sparked outrage among local residents. The police are determined to bring those responsible to justice swiftly.
“And you will see in coming days, the courts will act as swiftly as possible to jail those people who bring violence, racism, and hatred into our communities,” added Detective Superintendent Speight.
He also issued a stern warning to anyone considering causing further unrest in Merseyside: “To anyone intent on coming to Merseyside in the future I have the same message: we will find you, and we will put you before the courts.”
The Merseyside Police are urging anyone with information about the individuals in the released images to come forward immediately.
