This week marks 26 years since Andrew John Capon vanished without a trace, leaving behind a family still searching for answers. On October 2, 1998, Capon, then 37, disappeared during a night out with work friends in Ingoldmells, Lincolnshire.

Capon, a father of three from Grantham, was staying at Waterside Leisure Park with three colleagues when the group decided to visit local bars and clubs. According to reports, Capon became separated from his companions towards the end of the evening.

CCTV footage from that night shows Capon involved in an altercation inside The Street Complex nightclub, resulting in his forceful ejection by four bouncers. He was last seen on camera crossing Scarborough Avenue opposite Skegness Pier, heading towards the clock tower, with one of his friends apparently in pursuit.

Despite extensive searches involving sniffer dogs and repeated appeals for information, no trace of Capon has ever been found. His bank account has remained dormant, and he has not contacted his family—behaviour described as entirely out of character.

The disappearance has taken a heavy toll on Capon’s loved ones. His father passed away from a heart attack just two weeks after he went missing, and his mother has since died without ever learning her son’s fate. Capon’s three children, now adults, continue to seek closure.

Lincolnshire Police urge anyone with information about Andrew Capon’s disappearance to come forward. Detective Inspector James Kirk stated, “Even after 26 years, we remain committed to solving this case. No piece of information is too small—it could be the key to providing Andrew’s family with the answers they desperately need.”

As another year passes, Capon’s family and friends ask the public to keep them in their thoughts. They continue to hope that someday, the mystery of what happened on that October night in 1998 will finally be resolved.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. The Missing People charity can also be reached at 116 000 for those wishing to report potential sightings.
