Detectives investigating a series of distraction burglaries across Birmingham, Sandwell, and Solihull are appealing to the public for assistance in locating Bernard McDonagh.

Authorities are seeking to question McDonagh, 59, also known as Bernard Lovell, in connection with these offences. McDonagh is wanted for questioning regarding multiple incidents where elderly women were targeted by a man posing as a council official or water company employee.

The suspect’s modus operandi involves claiming a need to check the victim’s taps, and gaining entry to their homes under false pretenses. In a particularly alarming incident in Erdington, an 88-year-old woman was assaulted during one such intrusion. She remains hospitalised in serious condition.
