A fire at a former mill building in East Hill, Ashford, prompted a major response from Kent Fire and Rescue Service on Friday, December 13, 2024.
The fire began with a tree alight near the property, which quickly spread to the exterior of the historic mill building. Firefighters were called to the scene at 5:33 PM and worked for over an hour to bring the blaze under control.
Major Firefighting Response
Nine fire engines, a height vehicle, and a bulk water carrier were deployed to tackle the flames. Crews utilized water from hydrants and used main jets to extinguish the fire.
The response ensured the fire was contained before it could cause more significant damage. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation. Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities as they work to determine how the fire started.
