Background: Khalife’s Escape
Daniel Khalife, a former British Army soldier, escaped from HMP Wandsworth on September 6, 2023, by allegedly clinging to the underside of a food delivery van. His escape sparked a four-day nationwide search, before he was eventually recaptured in Chiswick, West London.
Khalife, who was accused of terror-related offences and breaching the Official Secrets Act, was later convicted in November 2024 and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have not disclosed further details about Chowdury’s alleged involvement in aiding Khalife following his escape. Investigations are ongoing, and further developments are expected following his court appearance.
Legal Implications
If found guilty, Chowdury could face severe legal consequences, as assisting an escaped prisoner carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
