Major Alert at Southampton Airport After Passenger Plane Emergency Landing
Southampton Airport went into full alert this morning after a passenger plane was forced to make an emergency landing due to technical problems. The alarm was raised just after 11:20am on Friday 10 February 2017 when the aircraft encountered trouble mid-air.
Technical Glitch Sparks Distress Call
The pilots issued a distress signal citing a “technical issue” discovered while airborne. This prompted immediate action from airport emergency services.
Firefighters Rush to the Rescue
Hampshire Fire and Rescue joined forces with the airport’s onsite fire crews to prepare the runway for the emergency landing. Five fire engines from Eastleigh fire station arrived, along with crews from St Mary’s and Hightown, ready to respond if needed.
Safe Landing Clears the Way
A Southampton Airport spokesman said: “Emergency services responded at around 11:30am with police after we were advised that a private aircraft had developed an engine fault. The plane landed safely without further incident and normal operations at the airport have not been affected.”
