New Dad Stabbed to Death in Brutal London Attack
Jack Stevens, 19, has been found guilty of murdering new father Nashon Esbrand at the Old Bailey.
Fugitive Caught After Europe Escape
Stevens fled the UK after the August 2017 stabbing but was finally arrested in Spain in July 2018, thanks to a European Arrest Warrant and cooperation between the National Crime Agency and Spanish authorities. He was extradited back to London last August and charged with murder.
Fatal Chase Ends in Stabbing
The tragedy unfolded on 24 August 2017 in Islington when Nashon, 27, was chased by a gang including Stevens and Dillon Zambon, 21. Witnesses described Nashon being pursued on bicycles along Essex Road and Mitchison Road.
Despite calling his father and police for help, Nashon was cornered on steps near his parents’ home and stabbed multiple times. He died in hospital from severe blood loss.
Gang Members Sentenced, Stevens to Follow
- Jhon Berhane, 19, received life with a minimum of 21 years
- Dillon Zambon, 21, also sentenced to life with 21 years minimum
- A 16-year-old accomplice was jailed for 12 years
Stevens faces sentencing on 22 March.
Detectives Seek Justice for Nashon
“Jack Stevens has finally been brought to justice after trying to evade punishment. He was part of the gang who hunted Nashon in broad daylight before stabbing him fatally,” said Detective Sgt Lee Tullett.
“Nashon was a new father. His family has been shattered by this senseless act. We are determined to catch and convict all those involved, no matter where they run.”
