Attempted murder charge following Canterbury stabbing

Kent Police detectives investigating an assault in Canterbury have charged two men. On Wednesday 1 May 2019 the Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of attempted murder against Ilir Deskaj, 38, of Frencham Close in Canterbury. The charge relates to an assault in Hever Place on Tuesday 30 April 2019 at around 11pm where a man in a car sustained injuries consistent with being stabbed and was taken to hospital. Mr Deskaj was also charged with possession of a knife in a public place. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court via video link on Wednesday 1 May 2019 and has been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on 30 May 2019. Benjamin Deskaj, 20, of Frencham Close was charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to this incident. He has been released on bail to attend Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 22 May 2019.
