Seven Sexual Attacks Rock Harold Wood

Detectives are hunting a predator after seven sexual assaults shook the quiet Harold Wood area in Havering. The attacks all happened between 9pm and midnight from 9 June to 2 July, all within half a mile of Harold Wood Station.

Suspect on a Bike Stalked Women Near Station

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 16-20, who often rode a pedal cycle. Several victims were followed from Harold Wood train station before being assaulted.

Timeline of Disturbing Incidents

  • 9 June, 11:25pm: Man on bike exposed himself to a woman on The Drive and stared as she walked away.
  • 11 June, 9:30pm: Suspect rode past and groped a lone woman at Sackville Crescent. A passerby stopped to help – police want to speak to him urgently.
  • 11 June, 9:50pm: Another assault over clothes on The Ridgeway. The man smirked and cycled off towards Gubbins Lane.
  • 25 June, 9:50pm: A woman was followed on foot and assaulted on her clothing near Sackville Crescent.
  • 27 June, 12:05am: Suspect grabbed a woman boarding a bus outside Harold Wood station, then walked off.
  • 30 June, 9:35pm: At Gubbins Lane, a male reportedly assaulted a woman and appeared to masturbate.
  • 2 July, 10:45pm: Another assault at Gubbins Lane; suspect then walked alongside the victim before leaving towards Ridgeway.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

“These incidents are clearly concerning and we are conducting numerous enquiries to trace the offender,” said Detective Inspector Edward Wilkinson. “We urge anyone who travelled through Harold Wood station during these times to think back and report any suspicious activity. We’re especially keen to talk to the man who helped a victim on 11 June at Sackville Crescent – you could be a vital witness. Although investigations are ongoing, there is a strong possibility all assaults are linked. We’re working hard to support the victims who have been left frightened and shaken.”

Arrest Made But Suspect On Bail

An 18-year-old man was arrested on 9 July in connection with the attacks. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries, with a court date set for late August.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting reference CAD 8441/1 June.
