Ferris Wheel Fiasco at Bromley Christmas Market
Chaos struck Bromley High Street’s Christmas market when a ferris wheel came to an abrupt halt – stranding 26 people high above the ground. A snapped drive cable left the giant wheel stuck and helpless.
Firefighters Race to the Rescue
Heroic firefighters sprang into action. They manually rotated the wheel, carefully rescuing passengers one by one. Ten adults and 16 children were plucked from the cabins and given precautionary checks by ambulance crews at the scene.
Swift, Safe, No Injuries
Station Commander Paul Osborne said: “Crews worked hard and quickly to manually rotate the ferris wheel and assist members of the public to safety. We were able to get everyone off safely and there were no reports of any injuries.”
The brigade was called at 4.30pm and wrapped up by 5.15pm. Two fire engines from Bromley and a rescue unit from Croydon tackled the emergency with speedy efficiency.
