RNLI Lifeboat Launches Christmas Eve Rescue in Choppy Solent Waters
Dramatic Medivac from Normand Pacific
Bembridge RNLI’s All-Weather Lifeboat, the Alfred Albert Williams, sprang into action on Christmas Eve. At around 11.40am, the UK (Solent) Coastguard requested a medivac for a crew member suffering stomach pains aboard the Normand Pacific, working on the IFA2 cable project mid-Solent northeast of Bembridge.
Braving 2m Swells to Save a Life
Despite challenging 2-metre swells, the lifeboat team skillfully reached the Normand Pacific. The patient, able to walk, was carefully taken from the starboard forward deck and brought aboard. The crew quickly transferred him to Portsmouth Camber where an ambulance was waiting to rush him to hospital.
Fast and Professional Response
The Alfred Albert Williams returned safely to Bembridge, where it was recovered by 1.30pm, wrapping up a swift, life-saving Christmas Eve rescue mission at sea.
