Four Arrested and 38 Searched in Thornhill Violence Crackdown
Police swooped across Thornhill, Sholing, Weston, and nearby areas overnight, making four arrests and searching 38 people under a tough new Section 60 order. The emergency crackdown ran from noon on Saturday 25 January until 7am Sunday morning.
Weapons Seized as Cops Hunt Violent Offenders
Officers hit the streets to stop weapons-related violence in its tracks. During the operation, two knives, a broken snooker cue, and an axe were taken off the streets. Three men aged 28, 29, and 30 were arrested in Weston for carrying offensive weapons in public. The 28-year-old also faces a drink-driving charge. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy was detained in Sholing over possession of a bladed article.
Police Warn: Section 60 Is No Magic Fix
Chief Inspector Phil Lamb explained the move: “Section 60 helps prevent serious violence and lets us catch those armed or planning violence. We tell you this upfront so the community knows what we’re doing to keep you safe.”
“When we announce Section 60, it might make those thinking of causing trouble think twice. We rely on your information to act effectively, so please come forward if you have any concerns.”
He added patrols would continue and urged the public to report suspicious behaviour immediately by calling 999.
