Fake Cops Snatch Range Rover at Gunpoint in SE19

Two brazen crooks posing as police officers threatened a man with a firearm before stealing his luxury Range Rover in south London. The shocking heist unfolded on Upper Beulah Hill around 8.40pm on Monday, February 17.

Victim Duped by False Police Stop

The 60-year-old driver stopped his black Range Rover after seeing what he thought was an unmarked police car flashing blue lights. One suspect, claiming to be a police officer, flashed a fake warrant card and convinced the victim to step out.

“The man then asked the victim to talk to his ‘colleague’ inside their vehicle,” said Detective Constable Joanne Austin. When the victim approached, the second suspect pulled a gun on him.

Armed Thugs Make Good Their Escape

The first suspect jumped into the victim’s Range Rover and sped off. Both getaway cars, including the dark-colored vehicle — possibly a Vauxhall Astra — fled the scene along Upper Beulah Hill.

“This was a frightening experience for the victim, who pulled over in good faith believing he was assisting police,” DC Austin said. “The suspects used a blue flashing light to add authenticity to their act. This was a sinister, well-planned crime, and we want to find them fast.”
