Police swooped on a residential block in Garter Way, Rotherhithe, after reports of a man in his 50s acting bizarrely.
Taser Fails as Man Inflicts Throat Wound
At 5.53pm, officers arrived to find the man armed with a knife. They deployed a taser, but it failed to subdue him. The man then cut his own throat.
Air Ambulance Rushes Man to Hospital
London’s Air Ambulance airlifted the man to hospital. Authorities say his injury is not currently life-threatening. He will be taken into police custody once discharged. No other arrests made.
Officers Spat At and Treated as Precaution
Two police officers were hospitalised as a precaution after being spat at during the incident.
