If you’re in Heslington, Fulford, or nearby, brace yourself for a massive bang tomorrow morning. Around 6.30am, explosives experts from the Ministry of Defence will detonate a historic unexploded shell on Walmgate Stray.
Metal Detector Find Sparks Early Morning Blast
The shell was discovered earlier today by a keen metal detectorist. The MOD has quickly moved in, securing the area with guards and a cordon to keep locals safe.
Safety Comes First—No Evacuations Planned
The bomb will be detonated on site, which is safer than trying to move it. Given the remote spot, no one is expected to be asked to leave their homes.
