Knife-Wielding Teens Target Victim in Broad Daylight
A shocking robbery attempt unfolded on Tonbridge Road at 3.30pm on Monday, 11 October 2021. The victim was confronted by a large group, with one lad grilling him about the bag he was carrying and its price. Things quickly turned nasty.
Knife Threat Sparks Road Chaos
The gang threatened the victim and tried to snatch his bag, brandishing a knife to back up their demands. Desperate, the victim stepped into the middle of the busy road, waving down cars for help. Luckily, he managed to escape and dial 999.
Police Hunt Three Teen Thugs – Descriptions Released
Officers say three youths were directly involved in the attempted steal. Two are black, around 16 years old:
- One about 5ft 7ins, black jacket, black school trousers
- The other roughly 5ft 9ins, wearing a black puffer jacket with a hood, which looks splattered with coloured paint
The third suspect is white, 14 or 15, described as small and skinny, around 5ft 3ins tall. He has short blond or fair hair and sported a black coat with dark tracksuit bottoms and carried a cross-body bag.
Witness Appeal: Dashcam & CCTV Footage Needed
“At some point, victim and suspects ended up in the road, forcing vehicles to stop,” said PC Chris Welham of Maidstone CID. “We’re urging anyone who witnessed this to check dashcams or home CCTV. We especially want to hear from the driver of a white Transit van seen briefly stopping at the scene.”
